6 Tips for Vaping CBD Oil
Cannabidiol oil is an exciting and relatively new product available in states that have legalized marijuana. Potential benefits include pain relief, anxiety and depression reduction and even substance abuse treatment. A prevalent way to take in CBD oil is vaping, so here are six tips to make vaping CBD oil more enjoyable, efficient and productive.
1. Not all vape devices are appropriate for CBD oils.
There are a lot of different vape products on the market, and not all of them are appropriate to CBD oils. The two main options are vape pens and tank vaporizers. Vape pens are simple to use and appropriate for concentrates. They are also discreet and super portable. Tank-based vaporizers give you many more options and tend to be more cost-effective over the long-term. It gives you more control, and it’s more economical because you can maintain and rebuild aspects of it rather than just replace the entire thing.
2. You can mix CBD oil and vape juice.
If you’re new, don’t be afraid to use a vape pen for the convenience. That early convenience is probably worth the little extra you’ll pay in the long run. However, when you’re ready to move up to more sophisticated equipment, one of the exciting options at your disposal is the ability to mix CBD oil with various vape juices. Select your favorite flavor or come up with a custom mix.
3. Vaping CBD oil is almost instantaneous.
Edibles and other ways to consumer CBD oil often take 30 minutes and as much as 90 minutes to kick in. When you vape, it takes about 30 seconds. That’s quite the difference and can be quite the shock if you have a frame of reference from other consumption methods. So, start small and work your way up until you determine the right dosage to do it. It can be easy to use more than is necessary as a beginner.
4. Quality can very greatly from one oil to the next.
The production of CBD oil isn’t well-regulated—yet. It’s coming, but the industry is experiencing some growing pains. For the consumer, it means that you need to be hypervigilant about the oils you buy. Read the label. Determine how the oil was manufactured. Identify the THC amount. Find out where the materials were grown. Pay attention to any additional ingredients in the mix.
5. Opt for clear liquids.
A good rule to adhere to is that CBD oils should be crystal clear. If a liquid has any murkiness at all, then that’s a good indication that the oil is of a lower quality. While these additives aren’t necessarily bad for you, they are likely to cause less efficient usage of the oil. In addition, those impurities can cause your equipment to require more maintenance and even fail at a higher rate.
6. Lower temperatures are best for a start.
There is no perfect temperature for CBD oil. The minimum temperature at which you can vape CBD oil is 320 degrees Fahrenheit. Above 465 degrees Fahrenheit, you’re actually combusting the oil and losing the benefits of vaping. The range of 320 to 345 degrees Fahrenheit is a good starting range for those learning the ropes. But there’s no hard rule here, and there are reasons to move up to higher ranges depending on the product you’re using and what your purpose for using is.
CBD oil is still a new frontier. Trial and error is often required to determine the perfect dose for a particular condition or application, and even doctors are learning as they go. Most medical professionals agree that the quickest and most efficient means of consuming CBD oil is vaping it, and vape pens and the like make it very easy to begin with a small dose and work your way up to your ideal amount.
