Radio frequencies are also called radio waves. Radio waves are generated when magnetic and electric fields join to form electromagnetic waves. 1. James Maxwell
James Maxwell was the person that predicted the existence of radio waves first in the 1860s. He developed several mathematical equations that were used for electricity. He is also the person that designed the theory that electromagnetic waves could be made by combining both the magnetic fields and the electrical fields. Thus, his approach became known as Maxwell’s equation. Maxwell also believed that the electromagnetic waves do not dissipate after creation. Maxwell believed that the electromagnetic waves would travel through space forever and bounce off items. According to him, electromagnetic waves could only be absorbed by some other form of matter.
2. Heinrich Hertz
Heinrich Hertz was a scientist that used the theory of Maxwell’s equations to create the first electromagnetic radio wave. After his invention, he made a demonstration of the radio frequencies in his lab in the year 1887. Hence, the unit of measurement of a radio wave was called Hertz as a form of honor to Heinrich Hertz. After his invention, Guglielmo Marconi created the first radio transmitter and receiver that were usable and practice. The new creation happened in 1890.
