This type of cleaning is designed to ensure you are able to keep your teeth sparkling and white, but they are also to ensure you aren’t allowing plaque and bacteria to build up inside your teeth. This cleaning gets all the stuff your toothbrush is unable to get, and it also allows you a chance to find any concerns prior to them becoming concerns.
For example, if your gums are infected, a twice-yearly visit is what you need to ensure you’re getting what you need from your cleaning. You might not find out you have an oral health issue at home until it already hurts, and that’s when it’s already too late. If your dentist can find it before it hurts or becomes a major problem, treatment is always much simpler.
2. Brush and Floss
It’s really that simple. If you brush your teeth twice a day and floss them as well, you’re doing yourself the biggest favor you can. Your teeth collect a myriad of germs, bacteria, and food particles throughout the day, and cleaning them is what you must do to ensure they are healthy. Even if you’re already brushing twice a day, you might not be brushing long enough. Do it the full two minutes, and follow it up with a thorough floss.
3. Drink Water
Water is good for your overall health and your teeth. The more you drink other items, the more damage you do to your teeth. Coffee and red wine are great for stains that are tough to remove without a professional whitening, and other drinks are too sugary and unhealthy. When you drink a lot of juice and other sugary items, you put your teeth at risk. The sugar can cause a lot of damage to your teeth, and it is not always easy to get rid of this damage.
Sugary foods are easy to consume because they’re so good, but they’re bad for your oral health. The sugar can stick to your teeth and make it easier for you to miss it when you brush and floss. It damages your teeth when it sits on them like this. You don’t have to stop drinking your favorite sugary drinks as a whole, but you should limit your consumption and replace your typical drink with water. It’s so much better for you and your health.
