Global Voices Online has always led the way for bloggers through their wide coverage and also through their innovative approach. Until now Global Voice Online has focused primarily on the blogging sphere, but with the launch of Global Voice Advocacy this is about to change.

Global Voice Advocacy aims to build a global network of bloggers and online activists that is dedicated to protecting freedom of expression and free access to information online. The aim of the network is to raise awareness of online speech issues and to share tools and tactics.

Of particular interest is the Advocacy 2.0 Guide: Tools for Digital Advocacy. The goal of the project is to provide a definite reference guide for web 2.0 advocacy tools and support this by instructions on using the tools and successful examples of their use.

The first guide in this project is Geo-Bombing, which discusses the effective use of YouTube through google mapping applications such as Google Maps and Google Earth.
